Simon N. for Dr. Paik. Around a year ago, my long-serving upper bridge became loose, and I needed a permanent solution. the only viable options were an All-on-4 or All-on-6 implant system. After extensive research and speaking to a dozen of offices I booked with major providers: ClearChoice Dental in Columbia and Nuvia Dental in Bethesda. My visit to ClearChoice was very positive. The doctors had been working there for a while, and the reviews were overwhelmingly good. I didn’t feel any marketing gimmicks or pressure. They offered to perform a free CT scan of both jaws, but when I asked to use the CT scan I brought, they were able to open it on computer. Dr. Paik, Lead Prosthodontist, came in and analyzed the CT scan and discussed available options. When I offered some of my own ideas, he didn’t just dismiss them but evaluated and accepted some of them. Everyone involved impressed me as a professional from the first visit. To be thorough, I also went to Nuvia Dental in Bethesda. The office was nice, but I had to wait a long time to be seen at my first appointment. That was already a concern. They insisted on doing their own CT scan, which I agreed to. However, the scan was reviewed not by a doctor but by a representative. When I asked if he was a doctor, he said no. That made me uncomfortable. I’ve had several surgeries in the past, and I know swelling can be significant afterward. Nuvia told me they install the entire permanent system in a single day, which concerned me due to potential post-op swelling. Most concerning, when I asked to meet specific doctors listed on their website, I was told that none of them were employed at that location anymore. The current staff were not listed online, and I was handed a sheet of paper with handwritten names to research on my own. This combination of issues led me to immediately decide against proceeding with Nuvia. I called ClearChoice in Columbia and made another appointment. From the beginning it was a nice experience. They performed additional diagnostics and took numerous digital impressions using cutting-edge equipment. Dr. Paik at ClearChoice is phenomenal. The whole office runs with incredible energy and professionalism. Everything is modern—no waiting, fast communication, and top-tier equipment. All the assistants and the technical personnel were extremely pleasant and professional. My surgery was performed by Dr. McIver. He removed the failing teeth, placed bone grafts, and put in implants. I was under full anesthesia and experienced very little pain afterward, just the expected swelling. I used only minimal Advil and didn’t even need stronger painkillers. They installed a temporary system, which looked and felt remarkably similar to the final version. I now understand why they do this—to accommodate swelling and make future adjustments easier. The team is composed of mid-career professionals, exactly the balance of experience and vigor that I was looking for. At one follow-up, I asked Dr. McIver about the implant placement and requested a scan. He didn’t hesitate and immediately ordered it, even though he noted it was a bit early. Everything looked perfect. I made several follow-up visits during the healing period. Once, I experienced minor discomfort and called the office. They saw me immediately. Throughout the process, their communication and responsiveness were top-notch. I never waited more than 5 minutes in the office waiting room. After a little over four months, they installed the permanent system. Dr. Paik was passionate about getting every detail perfect including the color and fit. Even when I said I couldn’t see the difference, he insisted on fine-tuning it to his high standards. I have another appointment in a month to ensure everything continues to fit and function well. From aesthetics to comfort, the final result is flawless. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.
