At ClearChoice Dental Implant Centers, we specialize in dental implant treatment to replace missing and failing teeth. For the past 20 years, our ever-increasing expertise and technology allows us to replace a full jaw (arch) of teeth, replace several consecutive teeth, or replace one tooth.

We are the #1 provider of full arch replacements in the US each year. The full arch is actually a long implant supported bridge made up of several implants all connected together and replacing many teeth. However, we know that each case is as unique as each smile and we can get many people back to dental health using implant supported bridges, designed to fill the gaps around the remaining healthy teeth.

This article explores what you should know about the costs of implant supported bridges, financing options, and tips for long-term success. If you’re ready to learn more about implant supported bridges, schedule a free consultation with ClearChoice today.

How an implant supported bridge is different than a dental bridge

Dental bridges reshape neighboring teeth to hold the false tooth (pontic) in between. A three unit bridge is the most common, and when the two teeth are cut down, the final bridge includes a tooth crown, a pontic, and a tooth crown. To avoid a dental bridge, a single implant can be used in the bridge pontic space.

Implant supported bridges are like dental bridges; the key difference is an implant crown on either end of the bridge, with pontics in between. Both the implants and pontics replace missing teeth. Implant supported bridges can replace multiple consecutive missing teeth, offering chewing strength and durability while maintaining the health of the adjacent teeth and offering a very natural look. These bridges can help restore a seamless smile.

What are the steps to getting implant supported bridges

The surgeon evaluates the amount of bone in the area for the implants. The amount of bone influences the size of implants that can be used in that space. The surgeon surgically inserts the implant into the jawbone, which will biologically fuse together over the next few months through a process called osseointegration. After 2-4 months of healing, the prosthodontist places a connector piece called an abutment on the top of each implant, makes an impression of the implants and works with the dental laboratory to fabricate the bridge in harmony with all your existing teeth.

A temporary prosthesis to wear in the tooth spaces while the implants osseointegrate may or may not be part of the overall prosthesis steps. There is usually an additional cost for this temporary prosthesis.

The cost of implant supported bridges and what factors influence the cost?

Infographic with overlapping circles showing “Number of implants needed” and “Pre-implant procedures.” These highlight two primary cost factors influencing implant-supported bridge pricing.

Here are some factors that can impact the cost of implant supported bridges:

Number of implants needed

Increasing the number of implants needed influences the cost. For instance, correcting a small gap may require just two implants. Meanwhile, several missing teeth may need more implants. The more “parts and pieces” attached to each implant to create the bridge increases the cost of the overall treatment. Each implant supported bridge is free-standing, so you may need more bridges if teeth are missing in more than one location in the jaw or if you need bridges in the upper and lower jaw.

Pre-implant procedures

Some patients may need preparatory procedures to qualify for dental implants. This can increase costs. For instance, patients with jawbone loss may need a bone graft to strengthen the jawbone and increase the volume of bone at the exact implant site.

How long do implant supported bridges last?

Implant supported bridges can last years with proper care. To maximize their lifespan, follow good oral hygiene habits, visit your prosthodontist regularly, and report any issues as soon as you notice them.
