What is the dental implant process?

The dental implant process is a coordinated treatment that replaces missing or failing teeth with a stable, long-term solution.

At ClearChoice Dental Implant Centers, your care is delivered under one roof by a dedicated team of specialists. That means imaging, diagnosis, surgery, and final restoration all happen in a single location, helping streamline care and reduce delays.

While the process is personalized to each patient, most treatment plans follow a similar path:

Initial consultation and diagnostics

Custom treatment planning

Surgical implant placement

Healing and osseointegration

Final restoration

Whether you’re getting a single dental implant or replacing all your teeth with full-arch implants, the general process starts with your free consultation. From there, healing time, number of appointments, and prosthetic design may vary.

General timeline for dental implants

While every dental implant journey is unique, most patients complete the process in several steps over the course of several months. The total timeline depends on the type of prosthesis, your healing response, and whether any additional procedures are needed.

An overview of what to expect:

At your initial consultation, we’ll talk about your treatment plan and take you through our Smile Design simulator. Our advanced digital technology lets you preview your new smile.

After your surgery, you’ll leave with a set of secured teeth while you heal from surgery. This gives you a chance to test-drive your smile and make any changes you’d like. Then we’ll fit your final prosthesis and continue to be a partner with follow-up care.

Number of appointments

The number of appointments required will depend on your specific treatment plan and how your body responds to healing. Some patients complete their journey with fewer visits, while others may need additional appointments for planning, fitting, or follow-up care.

Your ClearChoice care team will walk you through the expected schedule for your case and help coordinate all your visits from start to finish.

A fixed full-mouth or full-arch implant procedure may require more visits for planning, fitting, and adjustments.

Dental implant process FAQs

Normally, but not always. Most patients leave surgery with a provisional prosthesis or crown, while others may need to wait for healing before a prosthesis is placed. This decision depends on factors like bone stability, implant placement, and the type of restoration planned.

All treatments follow similar overall stages, but the complexity of each case can vary. Single-tooth implants are typically more straightforward, with a more localized treatment area. Fixed full-mouth implant prostheses and implant-supported dentures can require more extensive planning, surgical coordination, and follow-up to support the larger scope of the treatment area. Your ClearChoice doctor will help you understand what to expect in your case.

Possibly. If your remaining teeth are not viable or your bone quality is low, your team may recommend extractions or grafting to prepare the area. For implant-supported dentures or fixed full-mouth implant treatment, extractions and bone graft may be done at the same surgery. These steps help increase the chances of long-term success with your implants.

No. ClearChoice delivers the full implant process, from imaging to final prosthesis, within one center. That means fewer appointments, less back-and-forth, and one coordinated care team focused on your outcome.
