WHAT IS PERIODONTAL DISEASE?

Periodontal (or gum) disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. It can range from simple gum inflammation to a more serious disease that results in major damage to the soft tissue and bone that support the teeth.

Periodontitis, which means “inflammation around the tooth,” is the advanced form of periodontal disease. If you suffer from periodontitis, you’re not alone. It affects half of Americans aged 30 or older—that’s approximately 64.7 million people.*
In periodontitis, gums pull away from the teeth and form pockets that become infected. Bone can be lost, and the teeth may loosen or eventually fall out. While bacterial infection is behind all forms of periodontal disease, there are a wide variety of factors that can influence the severity of the disease. Risk factors of Periodontal or gum disease include smoking, diabetes, certain medications and genetic susceptibility, to name a few.

Signs and symptoms of periodontitis may include swollen gums, bright red or purplish gums, gums that bleed easily, painful chewing, new spaces developing between your teeth, bad breath and bad taste in your mouth, and loose teeth. See your dental professional if you think you may have periodontal or gum disease.

CAN DENTAL IMPLANTS HELP WITH PERIODONTAL DISEASE?

If you have missing or extremely loose teeth because of periodontal disease, dental implants could help restore your smile and your oral health.

The American Dental Association has called the development and use of dental implants one of the biggest advances in dentistry in the past 40 years.* Not only are they customized based on size, color and fit to best replicate your natural teeth, they also work wonders below the surface of the gum.

Research shows that dental implants don’t lead to an increased risk of gum disease, tooth decay or root canal problems. Plus, because implants are made up of titanium and other materials that are compatible with the human body, they integrate with bone and provide a stimulus that keeps the jawbone from deteriorating.

Everyone’s situation is different, so it’s highly recommended that you schedule a free consultation at ClearChoice to help determine if dental implants can help you. During your consultation, you’ll receive a 3D CT Scan. This gives our doctors a full, 3D view of your teeth and jaw, allowing them to thoroughly evaluate the condition of your implant-supporting bone.

If you are a good candidate for dental implants, you’ll walk away from your consultation with a complete treatment plan. Share it with your dentist, talk it over with your loved ones and take time to decide if it’s the right choice for you.

Your ClearChoice team is also a great resource when considering dental implants. Our doctors are extremely knowledgeable in the area of implants because it’s all we do. That’s just one of the reasons to call on ClearChoice as you explore treatment options.

WHY CHOOSE CLEARCHOICE FOR YOUR TREATMENT

Generally speaking, there are three phases to getting an implant.

  • First, the oral surgeon places the implant onto the jawbone.
  • Next, the implant combines with the jawbone to create that strong, secure anchor for your new teeth.
  • Finally, after you’re completely healed, your permanent, customized teeth will be placed on your implant.

At ClearChoice, we do all three of the phases at one center, so there’s no need to make different appointments with different doctors all over town. Our one team takes care of everything for you. We’ve also built a fully equipped, onsite lab in all of our centers, making it easy for our team of doctors and lab techs to collaborate and customize each patient’s new smile.

Another benefit of chosing ClearChoice is our fixed-full arch procedure. With fixed-full arch dental implants, it’s possible to restore complete smiles in just one day. Our doctors use four implants on top, and four on bottom, to replace full upper and lower arches. It’s less invasive and less time consuming. Better yet, patients get fully functioning, great looking temporary teeth to wear until their new teeth are ready.

Setting your smile free in just one day. It’s another reason why our patients love the all-in-one approach at ClearChoice.
