Design Project Manager

Summary/Objective

The Design Project Manager is the space planner and design lead for our new developments, relocations, and renovations. At ClearChoice space planning starts with field verification of existing conditions, applying the required spatial relationships, adjacencies and flows in the creation of space plan options. Once approved, he/she drafts the requirement drawings that kick off the external design process and become a part of the final drawing set.

Additional duties include Code research and permit process investigation for jurisdictions across North America.  This role requires a self-starter with excellent communication and customer service skills as well as a proactive approach to the evolving needs of our locations. Strong organizational skills, a calm demeanor, and flexibility are a must, as daily and weekly priorities change frequently. 

Essential Functions

  • Lead the space planning and design process for new builds and remodels.

  • Build and maintain relationships with important partners and develop design layouts that are aligned with the brand and operationally effective.

  • Partner with and manage external architects, design consultancies, and equipment and furniture vendors to ensure seamless integration with process flow and that details are aligned with design standards.

  • Develop creative solutions for room layouts, casework, and equipment to support business needs.

  • Prepare 2D and 3D architectural plans and elevation proposals for internal review.

  • Participate in design page-turn reviews, shop drawings reviews, and permit submittal reviews.

  • Participate in value engineering of prototype designs and maintain all prototype drawings.

  • Research current trends in space design and architecture.

  • Support other design and construction project manager(s) as needed

  • Work with internal departments on required design component details (IT, Marketing, Operations, etc.) to ensure appropriate inclusion and integration.

  • Research local Code and permitting requirements.

  • Perform layout and box-walk verification site visits.

  • Other design related responsibilities as assigned.

 

Requirements: 

  • 2-3 years of related experience, preferably in medical, restaurant, or retail

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or Industrial Design

  • Proficient in CAD systems including AutoCAD and Revit.

  • Experienced in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Approachable, engaging, and outgoing 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Detail oriented 

  • Ability to research problems and implement solutions

  • Must be reliable and punctual 

Work Environment

Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and construction environments and is regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise.

  • Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, the position requires overnight on-call duty and the ability to work during nonstandard hours when the need arises.

Travel

Up to 20% travel is expected for this position.
